Review Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke : Truly

Movie Review Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke Hindi 2010Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke seems like a genuine effort gone wrong. The story talks about the life of a simple man, Devki Nandan Tripathi (Rahul Aggrawal) who is very honest and simplistic in nature. Like everyone else, he too comes to the city of dreams Mumbai (read Bambai) to try his luck. With no place to stay, Devki is compelled to live in with the local goon, Madan Khachak (Ravi Kishen).

All his life, his parents Sanktha Prasad Tripathi (Om Puri) and (Neena Gupta) made decisions for him. One day, his parents decide to get him married. Declining the offer to marry was never an option for him. As if this was not all, the poor guy never even gets to see the face of his bride during the marriage ceremony. Excited about being married, Devki keeps dreaming about his wife Mithilesh (Narayani Shastri). The film often breaks into old classic songs whenever Mithilesh and Devki see each other.

The next day after his wedding, Devki comes back to Mumbai alone. Soon after, his parents get Mithilesh to Mumbai. Living with Madan Khachak in a low market area, turns out to be an absolute nightmare for the parents. They decide to go back to the village while Mithilesh stays back with her husband.

Things take an awful twist one day when the happy couple, plan to go out and explore the city. Accidentally, Mithilesh gets picked up by the local police under the charge of being a bar dancer. When Devki goes to the police station he meets the station police officer (Paresh Rawal) who demands Devki to produce his marriage certificate or any other proof in order to release Mithilesh. Does he manage to rescue Mithilesh and prove her innocence is something you will have to find out for yourself.

The film uses a lot of humor, however its fails to create an impact. The title, Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke somehow doesn’t seem to go with the storyline. Yet another flaw that hits you hard is the dialect that doesn’t seem to match at all.

The item number which was added to increase the ‘supposed’ glamour quotient was unrealistic and unnecessary. Portions where Mithilesh and Devki fall in love seem genuine and cute. Keeping it simple did add charm to the scenes.

New kid, Rahul Aggrawal clearly is not hero material nor does he fit the bill of a chocolate boy; stuck somewhere in between his future as an actor is questionable.

Narayani Shastri, in spite of being a strong performer in daily soaps could barely manage to impress. But in her defense she barely had a role or dialogues to say.

Ravi Kishen is no doubt a good actor and has reasons for his huge fan following. This film will not affect his fan base. However, one must comment on his selection of the garish bermuda shorts in the film. Really Kishen what were you thinking?

Paresh Rawal, Om Puri and Neena Gupta do justice to the roles. Overall, the film doesn’t impress you much but its genuine effort cannot be overruled.

VERDICT : watch at your own risk, ofcourse if you are jobless.
