The film begins with a murder attempt on Chief Minister of AP (Suman). On his death bed, the CM takes a promise from his son Arjun Prasad (Rana), who stays in US, to become next CM. His uncle’s son Dhanunjaya (Subbaraju) tries to usurp the CM post.Though a new comer to the politics, Arjun succeeds in convincing the senior and younger members of the party and becomes CM. Adamant Dhanunjaya continues to make efforts to beat Arjun in political game. To achieve his aim to bring out black money in the state, Arjun acts as though in love with Archana, daughter of senior politician (Ahuti Prasad). How Arjun realises his ambition forms the crux of the story.
This film depicts the present day political scenario in its true spirit. The director presents the present politcal games, the corrupt politicians, and the situations well. The first part of the film is very intriguing. The second half fails to support it in true spirit. The ambitious hero acting as though in love for the sake of political power spoiled the story narration. The scenes depicting this too lack conviction.
Action:-
Daggubati Rana attracts the audience with his looks and performance. Though a debutant, he showed good acting skills. With good diction and performance, he shows maturity in performance. He needs to work on expressions.
Richa Gangopadhyaya:- She performed well. She has the spark and needs to work more on expressions to gain more roles in future.
Kota Srinivasa Rao:- Needs no special mention for his good performance as he performed umpteen roles as a seasoned politician.
Subburaju:- Gave good performance as a politician with negative shades. Well known for his performances as a baddie, this film shows matured performance from him.
Suhasini:- Showed good action as the hero’s mother.
Harshavardhan:- Gave good performance as Ali, the supporter of Arjun. He did justice to his role.
Tanikella Bharani:- His performance as CM’s PA is well done.
Udayabhanu:- Alluring and attractive performance in the first song.Others too did justice to their roles.
Cinematography:- Vijay C.Kumar showed excellent skill in every frame of the film. His supported the director’s imagination with excellent camera work.
Music:- Micky J.Meyer gave melodious tunes just like his previous film Happy Days. No need to remind the readers that film too was done in combination with Sekhar Kammula.
Dialogues:- The dialogues form the plus point of the flick. As the film depicts the present political scenario, the dialogues reflected the satirical spirit to the maximum. Dialogues such as “CM kodukaite pandayina sare pelli chesukuntanu..” and Tanikella Bharani’s retort to it “..avineetiki aakalekkuva.. aakaliki aaratamekkuva”are just the droplets of the enjoyable satirical showers. Audience is sure to relish the spice of it.
Direction:- Director Sekhar Kammula is well-known for his experimental themes. This film too is no exception. You are sure to enjoy it.
Rating : 3.5/5 – A must watch for those who enjoy off-beat flicks.
